talked with a friend of mine sa isang malaking company sabi niya andami na daw nag reresign sa kanila.
sabi ko “Ha? eh ang ganda ganda ng kumpanya nyo?”
sabi niya ” Lahat nag-aabroad…”
…..
well hindi ako magtataka… ang sama ng bansang ito grabe… aaminin ko talagang mas madaming opportunity sa labas ng bansa at mas naaappreciate pa ang galing mo pag dun ka nag work.
other than that you’re well compensated pa.. stupido talaga ang mga tao dito… nakakapagod na…
but i had a friend who opted to come back from australia and im proud because he’s doing great here.
—————–
yesterday i had an interesting conversation with my aunt we were watching wowowee and i told her
“Tingnan mo nga naman ang mga pinoy noh? ang bilis makalimot… kamakailan lang nangyari yung wowowee stampede tragedy tapos ngayon tuwang tuwa sila sa ginagawa ni willie (at that moment willie was asking for the audience to call him pogi “handsome” in exchange for 100 pesos)”.
at that my aunt answered. “Eh ano palang gusto mo mag-iiiyak sila dyan? nangyari na yun tapos na yun dapat they learn from it and not dwell on it”
maybe it was the age gap or perhaps the age difference that mattered between us. i mean we’re decades apart and i think my way of thinking is entirely different from hers in that matter. but being the younger one and i hope the younger ones of the coming generation would extend that gratitude i opted to shut up rather than raise more blood pressures as we always do in our hot debates.
it is true they did learn from it they were able to not hold anymore events such as those. they opted to have tickets instead and a headcount for audiences.
i succinctly remember that after the event i wrote an essay about it and entitled it that “They deserve to die” for the bit of sarcasm and the temptation of spreading wildfire among the thinking minority i even sent it to PCIJ’s blog when it was still newsworthy. but while nobody lambasted me entirely in the PCIJ blog a number of them went to my blog and well, it fell almost short of cussing at my face.
i agree entirely that it is not good to dwell in the experience of what happened to the wowowee tragedy but looking back and understanding the present i see how society looks at events entirely and tries to shield the present situation from the past.
like for example how america corrupted our country as well as the spanish.
the garci tapes.
the marcos’s tyranny.
the election frauds so on and forth.
i really don’t understand how our concept of justice is embedded with the idea of not dwelling in finding it and just forgetting about it.
what do you learn from not dwelling on the mistake that you made?
or yet the crime that was done to you just so because it provides entertainment and the promise of a day of financial bliss?
maybe we really are a stupid race.
stupid as it is because we’d rather forget than exact retribution for the sins done to us.
and for all that i believe this country will never prosper.
sometimes I’m beginning to think that this country is just a place for vacation and should never be a place for living in as most pinoy families coming back from the US thinks so.
either way i still hope that many more like my friend from australia comes back and help our country.
